Dig A Well

Imagine a place where life's most basic ingredient, water, is inaccessible. Imagine hiking three hours a day to a water source that is nothing more than a shallow, stagnant pool of muddy sludge, contaminated by algae and bacteria. Sadly, this is a reality for the 14 million people in Kenya who do not have access to clean drinking water.

Thankfully, the solution is simple. Beneath the surface of the earth is an abundance of clean, fresh drinking water. The Kenyan people simply need a way to get to it. For a decade, Kenya Medical Outreach has been helping Kenyan families get access to clean water. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Kenya Medical Outreach, in partnership with the Boosterthon Fun Run, is hosting the inaugural Water for Kenya 5k. This event offers three ways for Georgians to help our friends in Kenya:

1. Run! - Thanks to sponsors who have underwritten our costs, 100% of your registration fee for the Water for Kenya 5k or 1k will go to dig a well in Kenya! Register today!


2. Sponsor a Ghost-Runner! - At the time of registration, sponsor a "ghost-runner" for an additional $25. These "invisible runners" represent your desire to help KMO in its efforts to fund clean water projects in Kenya. 100% of your gift will go towards these efforts and your gift is tax deductible! Even if you aren't running, you can still sponsor a ghost-runner.


3. Rally friends and family! Anyone can build their own free fundraising page and rally their friends and family to give as we approach the W4K kickoff! Firstgiving.com makes it fun and easy to use email, facebook, and twitter to get the word out.
